A special gift for the meditative soul

Sponsored by Do Something! Yoga

The best gifts are often those we experience. That’s just one of the reasons why Do Something! Yoga with Sylvie Boisclair is offering gift packages for the upcoming Northern Lights Buddha and Meditation Retreat.

“Giving someone the gift of this retreat is a change from buying a particular thing for somebody, such as the latest gadget,” said Boisclair. “It’s an immaterial Christmas gift – an inspirational experience you can give to a loved one, and even something you can do together!”

This six-day event on February 19-25 is unlike anything that’s ever happened in Yellowknife. Usually, committed yogis would have to travel great distances to experience an event of comparable quality.

Ordained by the Dalai Lama, Tenzin Yignyen will be creating a sacred sand mandala, leading Buddhist meditations and offering inspirational lectures on the meaning of life. Known for her ability to assist students in deepening their inner attentiveness and comprehension of each of the eight limbs of classical yoga, Sylvie Boisclair will be offering 10 yoga workshops.

Other optional activities include northern staples, such as dog sledding and aurora viewing.

Whether you’re buying it for yourself, a good friend or your partner, this is the type of gift that helps build a strong spirit to deal with whatever challenges might cross your path.

Individual lectures and workshops are $25 each while morning meditation sessions and observation of the mandala creation are each $12.

The retreat is available as a full package, yoga only or meditation only.
