How to Enjoy Dead North If You Didn’t Get Tickets

If you’re bummed about not getting tickets for the sold-out Friday and Saturday festival showings at the Capitol Theatre, we feel you. To help ease your pain, we’ve posted the trailers for every film right here. And next week, every film will be available on the Dead North vimeo page. It’s not the same as being there, but it’s close.

If you’re a bit late to the party, the Dead North film festival’s the world’s only circumpolar genre festival where filmmakers brave the dirtiest, deadliest cold to create horror, sci-fi and fantasy flicks, many of which find their way to festivals around the world.

This year’s two showings sold out within days, but there are plenty of other ways you to get your Dead North on and hang with the cool kids this weekend. Here are three of the best:

  1. Hit a free workshop or masterclass – That’s right, a FREE workshop or masterclass hosted by the type of industry professionals we rarely have access to in the North. Happening Saturday and Sunday, topics include everything from the business of theatres and festivals to a special effects workshop to the business of genre films and virtual reality in an Indigenous world. Whether you’re a filmmaker, aspiring filmmaker or just a serious film watcher, these sessions are an awesome opportunity. There’s more about the speakers and all the schedule and registration information here.

  2. Buy some swag – If you’ll excuse the immodesty, Dead North gear’s always wicked, but this year’s Raven Filth hats and festival tees are particularly awesome. There will be a table at the event where you can pick some up, ticket or not.

  3. Hit the Friday Meet and Greet – After Friday’s screening, filmmakers, attendees, other industry professionals and you can get together at the Cellar. Having such an awesome time without a cover charge should be illegal, but it’s not.

P.S. Feeling lucky? Here’s the link to where we sold tickets. They’re sold out, but who knows? If a miracle happens and any turn up between now and the showings, this is where they’ll be.

Oh, and along with the trailers, entries come with their own awesome posters, which we’ve included below. Enjoy.
