Denesoline Corporation Ltd., a progressive group of companies located in Yellowknife, NT, with a business address of 23 Mitchell Drive, Yellowknife, NT is seeking an experienced and qualified Aeroponic Farm Technician to work at their facility located in 84 Curry Drive, Yellowknife, NT.  This is a full-time, permanent position which requires an incumbent with experience setting up, maintaining and operating the aeroponics farm.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be highly technically minded at the tactical level and responsible for implementing and executing the design and build of new aeroponic farming systems while looking after the maintenance and technical aspects of our existing aeroponic farm.  Further, making changes, as required, to the said farming equipment in order to ensure its continued suitability and sustainability for reliable operation in the Arctic environment.

The incumbent will also be responsible for the timely germination, plantation, maintenance and harvest of the plants throughout their life in the aeroponic farm.  There can be up to ten harvest cycles per year depending on the crop.  The candidate will also be responsible for general troubleshooting duties and operation of equipment, including forklift operation, manual lifts, aerial lifts and mobile cranes.  Calibration of electrical equipment and HVAC systems is also required.  The Aeroponics Farm Technician will also be responsible for maintaining operational, quality control and production records, as well as developing and implementing safety and security procedures, and monitoring procedures in order to maximize crop health.

Requirements

At least three years’ experience in aeroponic farming and building, along with knowledge of the technical aspects of aeroponics farm equipment maintenance and operation, are required for this position.  Must have strong English communication (reading, writing, speaking) skills, and be able to undertake strenuous physical activity, such as climbing and heavy lifting.  Experience of industrial and electrical maintenance within a farming setting is required.  Ability to undertake different types of welding, including arc welding, and be willing to live in remote First Nations communities for extended periods of time throughout the year is highly desirable.

Salary & Benefits

The base salary for the position is between $65,000 and $70,000 per annum, based on experience and on a 40-hour work week, and includes two weeks' vacation per year, as well as an annual accommodation (including utilities) allowance of $25,000 and a yearly $2,000 travel allowance.
