Description

CBC's Indigenous Pathways to Journalism program is entering its second year. This paid, full-time, 9-month learning and development opportunity supports seven First Nations, Inuit or Métis candidates to hone their skills as storytellers in CBC newsrooms. One successful candidate will be based in each of this year's host locations: Calgary, Yellowknife, Saskatoon, Thunder Bay, Montreal, Halifax and Vancouver. Indigenous Pathways provides journalism training, career development support, and work experience. Applicants do not require journalism education or experience to apply.

In this program, participants will:

  • Develop skills and tools for advancing a career in journalism
  • Explore multi-platform storytelling through writing, images and sound
  • Create stories that connect with Indigenous audiences and reflect diverse perspectives
  • Grow relationships with, and be supported by, mentors, trainers, peers, and Indigenous CBC colleagues
  • Work in journalism, gaining valuable professional experience

CBC Indigenous Pathways is for you if:

  • You are an aspiring First Nations, Inuit or Métis journalist
  • You have a deep interest in multimedia storytelling
  • You are connected to your community and passionate about its stories
  • You want to gain practical, hands-on experience working in a CBC newsroom
