Classroom Assistant

Term Position: Start Date TBD - June 24, 2022 

General Description 

Under the direction of Teachers, Support Teachers, and the Principal or designate, the Classroom Assistant implements academic and other programs that support the progress of students identified as needing additional services and resources. 

Required Education and Recommended Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

• Priority will be given to candidates with classroom assistant experience
• Experience working with diverse learners is an asset
• Strong background in working with students with learning challenges in literacy and numeracy
• Training or successful experience working with children with behavioral and trauma difficulties
• Experience in multicultural environments would be an asset
• A Vulnerable Sector Check must be completed

Required Skills and Abilities

• Ability to work with students who require personal care learning
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team
• Proven ability to show initiative and flexibility to work with students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12  
• Excellent communication and computer skills
