The City of Yellowknife is currently seeking a professional, well-qualified individual to assume the challenging and rewarding role of Development and Lands Officer with the Planning and Development Department.

 

Under the direction of the Manager, Planning & Lands, the incumbent is responsible for reviewing and issuing development permits, investigating, enforcing, and following up on zoning by-law and permit violations and complaints; facilitating municipal land matters for the City in accordance with Federal, Territorial and Municipal legislation and implementing the Land Administration By-law; preparing reports regarding zoning by-law amendments, development control, and land matters; assisting in the creation of maps, drawings and the presentation of data in division reports and presentations to Council, committees and public meetings.

 

The work requires a thorough knowledge of land-use planning, development control, Municipal and Territorial Legislation as well as experience in the use of related mapping and graphic software.  This is normally acquired through graduation with a university degree in urban and regional planning, geography, surveying, or equivalent and a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience. Membership or eligibility for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) would be considered an asset.

 

The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive salary range of $85,758.63 - $104,236.06 as well as a comprehensive benefits package including monthly housing and vacation travel allowance, a defined benefits pension plan, and relocation assistance.
