Established in 1992, the Gwich’in Tribal Council (GTC) is an Indigenous organization that represents Gwich’in Participants from the Mackenzie-Delta region of the Northwest Territories. Its vision is to be a culturally vibrant and independent Nation that is environmentally responsible and socially and economically self-reliant. Its mission is to protect and advance Gwich'in interests through quality work, collaborative approaches and good governance in order to improve the lives of its residents while preserving the language and culture of the Gwich'in. GTC employs about 35 people.
Based in Inuvik, Northwest Territories, the new Director, Human Resources and Corporate Services, will enhance the organization's Human Resources processes, programs, employee relations and corporate affairs. The Director will work across GTC departments with Directors and Managers to support employee recruitment and staffing; employee orientation, performance management; benefit administration, compensation; employee relations; as well as information technology and administrative support. Mentoring a Human Resources Officer to develop their career, the new Director will be very hands-on with the full breadth of human resources and administrative matters in leading the function for the organization and providing support to Gwich’in Community Associations and Executive Leadership as requested.
As the ideal candidate, you bring a minimum of seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources with areas of expertise in recruiting, training and/or change management. You have experience with Information Technology, and Administrative Support is an asset. You will be prepared to lead the HR function and provide strategic advice, while also rolling up your sleeves to execute programs and manage a small team.
