The NWT Montessori Society is hiring an Executive Director (ED) in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. We are seeking a highly driven individual who is passionate and committed to the Montessori philosophy. The NWT Montessori Society has a long-standing history in Yellowknife and has been in operation for over 40 years. It is a not-for-profit, licensed under the Department of Education, Culture and Employment. With several locations in the city of Yellowknife, the NWT Montessori Society offers high-quality preschool education with classrooms in a traditional school setting as well as our own private facility. The ED is responsible for managing a team of approximately 15-20 staff, as well as the day-to-day operations of the private facility, collaborating with external organizations and families, and supporting the volunteer board of directors.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing day-to-day business activities
  • Managing the budget and finances (preparing payroll, payables, receivables)
  • Reporting on revenue and expenditures
  • Ensuring that the Society is in compliance with the NWT Daycare Act and the Department of Education, Culture and Employment's regulations
  • Maintaining student and staff records
  • Fulfilling requirements for licensing
  • Reporting to and supporting the Board of Directors and Committees
  • Overseeing the Strategic Plan
  • Creating and implementing fundraising campaigns
  • Actively communicating with Members of the Society

Qualifications

 

  • Strong interpersonal, communicative, and collaborative skills
  • High standard of professionalism, problem solving skills and time management
  • Human Resource Management
  • Business and Finance Principals and Management
  • Leadership of dynamic staffing environments
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, Sage50, WordPress or equivalent
  • A strong understanding of best practices in Early Childhood Education
  • An understanding of relevant legislation
  • Current Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening

Remuneration and Hours of Work

  • Working Hours are Monday – Friday (with the exception of Holidays) as well as occasional evenings and weekends
