We are currently seeking a qualified and enthusiastic individual to assume the position of Facilities Maintainer I with the Community Services Department.  This position is for a term of approximately six-months.

 

Under the direction of the Parks & Outdoor Facilities Supervisor, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks associated with the safety, installation, maintenance, operation, and construction of City parks, sports fields and courts, the cemetery and columbarium, City Hall, Wildcat Café, Parks shop, heritage sites, monuments, green space street scaping, asphalt stamping, and outdoor rink construction/maintenance. This position assists with the City of Yellowknife’s outdoor functions by providing equipment and/or staff for set-up and teardown. The incumbent may be required to fill in for Indoor Facilities Maintainers if operational requirements should arise.

 

The successful incumbent must possess a Grade 12 education, First Aid/CPR-C/AED certificate, and a valid Class 5 NWT Driver’s Licence. The incumbent must also demonstrate the ability to competently operate equipment such as a loader, skid steer/bobcat, excavator, and dump box trucks as well as a variety of high-pressure pumps and generators. Knowledge of the use of a computer is required. Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and some mechanics is also required.

 

This position pays $27.27 per hour plus a combined vacation travel and housing allowance of $450.00 per month.
