Nahanni Construction Ltd. is hiring General/Underground Carpenters for Yellowknife, NT. The candidate would be required to perform building structures underground with 6X6’s and 8X8’s and on surface making platforms, hoardings, etc. When not doing carpentry work, the candidate would be required to assist with miscellaneous site service activities.

• Building barricades and foaming gaps
• Building small walkways and warm up shacks, etc.
• Operating hand tools and power actuated tools
• Installing heating/hoarding, temporary fencing, guardrails, handrails and barriers as required
• Participating in daily tool-box meetings
• Reviewing and preparing daily Field Level Hazard Assessments
• Participating in weekly safety meetings
• Advising supervision of unsafe conditions or acts that may be a hazard or danger to oneself and other workers
• Read, interpret and act on instructions from supervision
• Preparing layout including selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work
• Ensuring tools and equipment are returned to job boxes and tool cribs
• Reporting all incidents/accidents including “near misses”
• Scaffold and access builds

• Red Seal Journeyperson Carpenter or completion of vocational school
• 2 years’ experience as a Journeyperson Carpenter is required
• Industrial construction experience would be an asset
• Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
• Ability to learn quickly and keep up with tight schedule
• Flexible and adaptable to change
• Strong organization and communication skills
• Able to complete physically demanding work with significant periods of standing and kneeling
