Department Information

The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. This mandate includes negotiating major financial arrangements with the federal government, providing analysis and advice to the Financial Management Board, and ensuring that financial and information resources are managed effectively, efficiently and economically. This mandate also includes the recruitment and retention of a competent public service that is representative of the people it serves and the development of programs and services that effectively serve the human resource needs of the public service.

Job Information

As the Information Access and Security Coordinator you will play an essential role in the provision of services and support relating to the processing of access to information requests as well as broader protection of privacy matters. This includes giving advice and recommendations on the appropriate search methods for records requested through Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (ATIPP) requests, legal actions and disclosure, and production orders. You will work in collaboration with legislation and policy analysts as well as records management experts to ensure that Departmental records are properly classified and secured according to the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) records disposition authorities and security classification. You will perform records searches and initial analysis of information received and will ensure that both physical and electronic records are secure and sensitive material is available only to those who require access. This position would be ideal for a highly organized individual who has knowledge of records management systems.

To be successful in this role you will typically need a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management related discipline, law, information management or business administration and two (2) years of relevant experience in an information management or policy and legislation setting.
