Description

Reporting primarily to the VP of Sales, the Inventory Control Specialist (ICS) provides support by processing purchasing transactions and receives all inventories into the business. Their primary duty is to maintain inventories of materials, equipment and stock by creating the part numbers, supersedes, replacements and tracking.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receive Inventory into Stock:

  • Compares incoming freight to invoices ensuring correct part number and amount has been received
  • Calculate cost of orders and charge or forward invoices to appropriate accounts
  • Contact suppliers to verify deliveries, shortages, missed items and all part number changes verified
  • Works with other staff especially in sales and shipping to ensure accurate inventory received into the business

Supports Sales Area:

  • Monitor inventory levels as materials, equipment and stock are issued, transferred within an establishment or sold to the public using manual or computerized inventory systems
  • Prepare reports for management or compile information to make said reports
  • Other duties as required

Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels as materials, equipment and stock are issued, transferred within an establishment or sold to the public using manual or computerized inventory systems
  • Review P/O’s, P/S’s, backup, invoices for accuracy and verify that materials, equipment and stock are not available from current inventory
  • Contact suppliers to schedule deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed deliveries and other problems that arise in the delivery or receiving of goods
  • Prepare and maintain purchasing files, reports and price lists for the sales department
  • Maintain a record of parts changed, superseded, replaced etc
  • Compile inventory reports, recording the quantity, type and value of materials, equipment and stock on hand, using manual or computerized systems
  • Maintain stock rotation and dispose of and account for outdated stock
  • Enter data and keep track of changes in inventory as well as provide sales and purchasing notes for relevant numbers indicating old numbers, new supersedes, and replacement
  • Reconcile physical inventories with computer counts

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Grade 12 or equivalency, and two years related experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Must be proficient with common computer applications
  • Ability to handle a heavy workload
  • Good with numbers
  • Demonstrated initiative
  • Attention to detail
