Mental Health/Social Emotional Specialist

Term Position | Term Dates: ASAP - June 23, 2023
Required Education and Recommended Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary education in Sociology or Social Work, Education or Inclusive Schooling
- Knowledge of the trans-generational impact of residential schooling
- Knowledge of cultural factors that impact learning, school success, and social/emotional development
- Knowledge of the functions of brain-based neurodiversity, self-regulation, trauma, and healing supports for youth and young adults (18+)
- Knowledge of Mental Health, illness, disorders, and psychiatric profiles
- Knowledge of Mental Health Wellness Plans
- Knowledge of collaboration and multidisciplinary approaches within a school environment
Required Skills and Abilities
- Ability to practice in a non-judgmental, culturally sensitive, and empathetic manner
- Ability to work with youth and adults who have diverse trauma and/or neurodiversity
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent listening communication skills as primary, verbal, and written secondary
- Effective negotiation and consultation skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Decision-making skills and managing several tasks at one time
- Stress management skills
