Job Summary

AECOM’s Water Division is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Civil Engineer for immediate employment in the Yellowknife Office. The appropriate qualified applicant will have an understanding of Civil Engineering and Construction Management principles and significant experience with the design and construction of municipal infrastructure; including primarily conveyance of water, wastewater and storm water. They will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other team members and customers. They will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and display drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Design of municipal water, wastewater and storm water pumping and conveyance systems; including underground municipal utilities and systems associated with lift stations, pump stations and other mechanical installations associated with water/wastewater

Preparation of project specifications, contract documents and cost estimates

Perform constructability reviews

Conduct contract administration and construction inspection

Coordination with regulatory agencies

Client communication and management

Lead preparation of proposals

Project planning, budgeting and scheduling

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering + Minimum of 4 years of experience in Civil Engineering, Design and Construction Inspection OR Diploma in a relevant technical field (civil technology, etc.) + 6 years of relevant experience.

Minimum 2 years experience with municipal water, wastewater and storm water conveyance and pumping infrastructure

Proficient with MS Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

Ideally 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, design and/ or construction

Eligible for registration as P.Eng. with NAPEG

Experience in the north and with permafrost

Training and experience in project management

Experience in proposal writing and job scoping

Excellent attention to detail

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
