JOB POSTING – RESEARCH ASSISTANT
We are hiring Research Assistants for a study that examines the public’s thoughts and opinions about cannabis. The study involves an online survey completed by participants aged 16 and over living in Yukon, Northwest Territories (NWT), and Nunavut. The study is being led by Dr. Erin Hobin at Public Health Ontario and Dr. David Hammond at the University of Waterloo. The Research Assistants will be responsible for promoting the research study in the community.
Locations:
- Iqaluit, Nunavut
- Pond Inlet, Nunavut
- Rankin Inlet, Nunavut
- Cambridge Bay, Nunavut
Work Period:
- Approximately September 6 to October 2, 2022:
- Part-time hours; day, evening, and weekend shifts available
- Approximately 6 hours per week; more hours will be available between September 6 – 18, only during peak times between September 19 – October 2
- Mandatory, paid, 2-hour virtual training session on 1 day between August 29 and 31

Responsibilities
- Promoting the research study in the community, including:
- Posting study posters at community hubs (e.g., post offices, grocery stores, college campuses, community centres)
- Distributing study postcards to the public
- Interacting with the public and answering questions about the study
- Requesting radio ads with the hamlet/community radio station
- Traveling locally within community to designated locations
- Maintaining activity logs on the distribution of study materials
- Maintaining regular communication with the research team via email and virtual meetings
