AVENS-A Community for Seniors, the largest long-term care and dementia care facility in the north, is hiring for the Canada Summer Student program. To qualify you must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years (as per the Canada Summer Student Funding program).

These are term positions expecting to start June 1 until August 31, 2023.

Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Recreation Assistant- volunteer experience with elders would be an asset, as well as a desire to offer support to vulnerable persons. The position will include 1-on-1 visits with residents, as well as assisting in group activities and outings.

• Knowledge of long term care for elderly persons and persons with dementia
• Problem solving skills
• Very good interpersonal skills including compassion and understanding for residents
• Very good listening skills

SALARY: $30.69 per hour
