We are currently seeking an individual to assume the demanding and fulfilling position of Pumphouse & Liftstation Maintainer IIB with the Water & Sewer Division of the Public Works and Engineering Department for and approximate Six-month term.

Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Superintendent, Water & Sewer, and the Pumphouse & Liftstation Supervisor, the incumbent is required to perform maintenance and a preventative maintenance program for all pumphouses, liftstations, City Garage and other City infrastructure as necessary. These duties include maintaining proper operation of the City pumphouses and liftstations, maintaining pumps, generators and monitoring equipment related to water distribution and sewage disposal, maintaining safe and efficient operation of water treatment plant equipment and treatment processes, ensuring reliable production and supply of high quality potable water to all City of Yellowknife residents at all times.   A large component of this position will also be steaming mains outdoors with a class 5 mobile steam boiler.

Qualifications

The incumbent a valid Class 5 NWT Driver’s License and a minimum Class 5 Stationary Engineer’s certificate. The work requires a general working knowledge and understanding of the City's water and sewer infrastructure and associated operations.

 

The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive salary range of $71,289 - $87,445 as well as a monthly housing and vacation travel allowance.
