Department Information
The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. This mandate includes negotiating major financial arrangements with the federal government, providing analysis and advice to the Financial Management Board, and ensuring that financial and information resources are managed effectively, efficiently and economically. This mandate also includes the recruitment and retention of a competent public service that is representative of the people it serves and the development of programs and services that effectively serve the human resource needs of the public service.
Job Information
The Insurance Registries Officer is responsible for ensuring that insurance activities in the Northwest Territories (NWT) including registration and licensing of insurers and individuals and payment of appropriate fees and taxes are carried out within the requirements outlined in the Insurance Act of the NWT and for policy research to support the Superintendent of Insurance in the development, application, and response to variance requests.
The Insurance Registries Officer carries out all administrative activity to research, document and monitor licensing and payment, the collection and administration of Premium Tax and completes all reporting as required for senior management and others as required under the Insurance Act and other relevant legislation and financial policies.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A high school diploma and two years of administrative experience.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $35.43 per hour to $42.31 per hour (approximately $69,089 - $82,505.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
