The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) provides the residents of the Northwest Territories with access to quality programs, services and support to assist them in making informed and productive choices for themselves and their families with regard to education, training, careers, employment and labour, child development, languages, culture and heritage.
Job Information
As the Access to Information and Privacy Specialist you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (ATIPP) program in accordance with the ATIPP Act and other relevant privacy legislation. In so doing, you will be recognized as the expert advisor on all aspects of privacy and information incident investigations, and responses to information requests. You will also be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring a departmental program-based audit schedule, and help to ensure that information is properly collected, stored and readily retrievable.
Under the direction and guidance of the Departmental Privacy Officer, you will plan, undertake, and evaluate privacy breach investigations, Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner reviews, and other matters regarding personal information. Many of the issues that arise from these investigations are unique, complex, very personal and of a highly confidential nature. You will be required to communicate with clarity, tact and diplomacy with senior managers and front-line staff, often under difficult circumstances.
To be successful in this role you will typically need a two year, post-secondary diploma, and one (1) year of directly related experience.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $44.83 per hour to $53.55 per hour (approximately $87,419 - $104,423.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
