We are currently seeking a dynamic and engaged individual to assume the position of Budgeting and Taxation Officer with the Corporate Services Department.

Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Budgeting, Taxation and Evaluation, the incumbent provides a full range of clerical, customer support services and analyses for budgeting, property taxes and assessment, and reconciles the sub-ledgers to the various asset and liability general ledger accounts. This position is responsible for handling and resolving customer inquiries and requests about taxes and maintaining files for the division. This position also assists with annual budget preparations.

Qualifications

The position requires specialized formal education or training in a broad accounting discipline, which can normally be acquired within a two-year period of full-time attendance in a post-secondary institution or enrollment in a formal accounting program. In addition, the position requires two to three years' practical experience. Familiarity with computer based systems and programs is essential. A general knowledge of integrated accounting software is also required. The complexity and amount of detail related to each aspect of the job is considerable, thereby requiring good organization, resourcefulness, initiative, flexibility, accuracy and adaptability.

The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive annual salary of $66,443.97 - $77,929.71 and a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension plan, and monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totaling $450.
