Description

Camp Rover - 1 Position 

Responsible for assisting camp leaders and managers for engaging with campers and implementing Camp programming. The Camp Rover will assist in organizing and implementing 5 week doing dynamic sessions of summer camp and assist as and where needed. The Camp Rover will always work cooperatively and effectively with all FFC-NWT staff and volunteers 

Dates - 

  • Training: June 6 - June 24 (Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm) 
  • Camp Session: June 27 - August 16 (7 days on, 4 days off)

Compensation: $900.00/week

Responsibilities

Camp Rover duties include but are not limited to: 

Pre Camp: 

  • Participate in all staff training 
  • Assist in preparation of Camp for the summer, this may include painting, repairs, building and cleaning 

During Camp - 

  • Work cooperatively and effectively with Camp Manager/Director, other Camp Leaders and Volunteers 
  • Assist in coordinating craft supplies prior to activities 
  • Assist in program support wherein a camper required recite or timeout, have an activity or craft on hand in order to keep that child occupied 
  • Assist team in supervising children at all times, never leaving children unattended 
  • Follow the program plan, and contribute enthusiasm, creativity, flexibility, ingenuity, and input 

Post Camp - 

  • Camp Rovers are responsible for the tear down of camp to prepare it for winter 
  • Preparing an accurate and organized inventory of craft, sport, first aid, and dry good supplies 
  • Participate in end of season debrief and evaluation 

Qualifications

Qualifications - 

  • A valid, Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate and work with others 
  • Ability implement and participate in programming for children ranging in age from 7-12 
  • Summer camp experience an asset 
  • Enthusiasm and desire to work with children and make a positive impact on their life 
  • Knowledge of northern cultures 
  • Experience working with children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder an asset 
  • NLS certification (lifeguarding) an asset 
  • Valid Driver's license 
  • Clear Criminal Record
  • Class 4 Drivers License or willingness to attain Class 4 license
