Department Information

École Allain St-Cyr provides French first-language instruction from junior kindergarten to Grade 12. It is expected that there will be approximately 185 students and 26 staff members at the school in 2024–2025.

Typically, candidates should have completed a Teacher Education Program diploma or a Bachelor of Education degree and be eligible for a Northwest Territories Teaching Certificate.

The following criteria will be important considerations in the hiring process:

  • Recent JK-12 Physical Education teaching experience;
  • Intramural and/or recreation program planning experience;
  • Willingness to coach/coaching experience;
  • Create a balanced Physical Education Program;
  • Strong classroom management skills;
  • Experience using data to inform instructional decisions;
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural diversity and heritage;
  • Have experience in multi-graded approaches and differentiated instruction strategies;    
  • Knowledge of or commitment to become knowledgeable of the prescribed NWT Curricula in Physical Education/related areas;      
  • Proven ability working with community groups to promote healthy living;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in spoken and written French and English.

Salary Information

Salary is prorated dependent on verified education and experience (ranging from $84,669 to $136,694 annum), plus an annual Northern Allowance based on the NWTTA Collective Agreement.
