Job Information

Dehcho Divisional Education Council invites applications for the 2024-2025 school year.  Charles Yohin School offers a diverse range of programs to students in JK – Grade 12.

Due to restrictive housing options in the community a teaching couple or teachers willing to share accommodations are sought for these positions.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS:    -Teacher/Principal (FT, TERM 1- 5 YRS) 

TEACHER/PRINCIPAL

This Kindergarten to Grade 12 school has a population of 10 - 12 students.  In addition to teaching duties, the principal will supervise, a classroom teacher, a classroom assistant, a special needs assistant and a janitor.  The principal is required to provide leadership to staff and work with the District Education Authority.  The incumbent is responsible for all the administrative duties and reporting that is required by the Council and Department of Education Culture and Employment in addition to teaching responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Must hold or be eligible for a Professional N.W.T. Teaching Certificate.
•    Must hold N.W.T. Principal Certification or must have completed or be willing to complete the Education Leadership Program. 
•    Should have a minimum of five years of experience teaching at various levels.
•    Should have proven experience of at least three years as an educational leader in the role of principal, assistant principal, or other administrative position.
•    Should have training and teaching experience in cross-cultural and multi-grade, inclusive classroom situation.
•    Should have direct experience with N.W.T. curricula.
•    Promote an inclusionary model of education.
•    Practices differentiation in program delivery.
•    The ability to teach from JK-12.                    
•    Knowledge and/or experience with Effective Behaviour Supports and Strategies for students with complex needs, i.e. ASD, FASD, etc.
