Job Information
Located on the Southern shores of the Great Slave Lake, the Senior Finance Officer (SFO) will report to the District Controller while performing professional accounting activities required in the support of the financial operations of the District Office and including financial monitoring and support to the Local Housing Organizations (LHOs). The framework includes generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), NWTHC policies and procedures and the GNWT's legislation and policies pertaining to financial management and administration, including the Financial Administration Manual (FAM) and the GNWT Business Incentive Policy.
The knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are:
- Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Working knowledge in computer software applications, including ACCESS, MS Word, Excel, Outlook and various accounting software.
- Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment
The above qualifications are typically attained by:
- Completion of a certificate program in Accounting with 2 years working experience in financial administration.

The salary range for this position is from $42.77 per hour to $51.08 per hour (approximately $83,402 - $99,606.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $5,332.
