Established in 1987, Yukon Energy (“YEC”) is a publicly owned electrical utility that operates as a business, at arms length from the Yukon government. Yukon Energy is the main generator and transmitter of electrical energy in the Yukon. They work with their parent company, Yukon Development Corporation, to provide Yukoners with reliable, sustainable and cost-effective power. Yukon Energy is headquartered near the Whitehorse Rapids hydro plant in Whitehorse, with community offices in Mayo and Dawson City.

With more than 21,000 electricity consumers in the territory, Yukon Energy directly serves over 2,200 of these customers. Most of the electricity Yukon Energy produces is renewable, coming primarily from hydro resources generated at their Whitehorse, Aishihik and Mayo hydroelectric facilities. Their mission is to enable Yukon's prosperity with sustainable, cost-effective and reliable electricity.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President, Operations, will be accountable for providing effective and dynamic leadership and for achieving the strategic and operating objectives of Yukon Energy. The Vice President will oversee and ensure reliable and cost-effective performance of all of YEC’s generating, transmission and distribution assets to meet and exceed customer expectations. As a key member of the Senior Management Team, the Vice President will participate in the overall leadership of the organization and will support the development and implementation of key objectives and plans for Yukon Energy.

The ideal candidate brings a successful track record of operational leadership and excellence as a Director or Vice President of Operations in the electrical utility and power generation sector, where they would have led a broad range of operations. An inspiring organizational leader, the ideal candidate will bring strong business planning and strategy development abilities paired with sound technical expertise in hydro operations, power generation and power transmission. The ideal candidate is an approachable leader with excellent consultative, collaborative and consensus-building skills, the ability to build a vibrant culture around high-performance, mentorship and operational excellence.
