Curbside Shopping: Garage Sale Guide – June 6th, 2015

What kind of Yard Saler are you? The Early Bird, who needs to get first crack at the good stuff as soon as the first table is set up? Or, are you the Latecomer, who waits to grab what sellers are practically giving away at noon? Either way, it looks like you’ve got a busy Saturday morning ahead of you, hopping from either end of town. So: plan ahead, clear out your vehicle, and load up on your coffee (or, green tea, lemon water, whatever works for you; we won’t judge).

This Saturday, consider starting your treasure with pancakes. The Wellness Program of the Yellowknife Dene First Nation is hosting a garage sale and pancake breakfast in N’dilo tomorrow with all proceeds going to the organization’s youth projects. Breakfast starts at 8:30 a.m., and we hear pancakes are a great source of energy for yard saleing.

Saturday is also National Trails Day, so be sure to head to McMahon Frame Lake Trail between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. for some walking/running draws and giveaways, and then get right back in your vehicle to get the rest of your yard saleing in!

And make sure you’ve worked up an appetite for the World Shore Lunch Championship at the Northern Frontier Visitor’s Centre when you’re all sale’d out. The celebration of local cuisine and northern culture starts at 3:30 p.m., and there will be lots of activities and competitions to fill your post-sale afternoon.
