Position Overview:
BDDEC seeks a dynamic and passionate Educator to join our team as an Instructional Coach. The successful candidate will be crucial in supporting educators in designing and implementing effective instructional practices that align with BDDEC's values and goals. The Instructional Coach will provide teachers with guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities, focusing on promoting student engagement, academic achievement, and cultural responsiveness.

Position Responsibilities:
•    Collaborate with educators to develop and implement instructional strategies that promote student learning and achievement.
•    Provide ongoing support and feedback to teachers to enhance their instructional practices and pedagogical approaches.
•    Facilitate professional development workshops and training sessions focused on differentiated instruction, assessment for learning, and culturally responsive teaching.
•    Assist in developing and implementing curriculum materials, resources, and assessments that align with BDDEC's educational philosophy and objectives.
•    Support teachers in analyzing student data and using assessment results to inform instruction and intervention strategies.
•    Through regular meetings, discussions, and sharing of best practices, foster a culture of collaboration, reflection, and continuous improvement among educators.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education
Eligible for a Northwest Territories teaching certificate

•    Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, indigenization, and land-based education principles.
•    Demonstrated experience in coaching, mentoring, or facilitating professional development for educators.
•    Demonstrates knowledge of effective instructional practices, assessment strategies, and curriculum design principles that align with BDDEC’s values.
•    Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
•    Must develop trusting and supportive relationships with teachers, administrators, students, and community members.
•    Have familiarity with educational technology tools and platforms to support teaching and learning.
•    Experience working in diverse and multicultural educational settings.
•    Demonstrate an understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and traditions with a commitment to integrating Indigenous perspectives into the curriculum.
•    Must have the ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
•    Must demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth and learning.

Salary Information

Salary is dependent on verified education and experience (range $84,669 to $136,694 per annum) plus an Annual Northern Allowance based on the NWTTA Collective Agreement.
