We are looking for a Decommissioning Project Specialist to join the Diavik Closure Team and advance decommissioning and demolition aspects of the closure study.

Reporting to the Principal Advisor Closure Readiness and working in a diverse group within the Closure Department, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing specialized contractors and consultants to advance infrastructure demolition designs to FS level execution plans.
  • Leading the assessment and review of options for site decommissioning plan including optimized sequencing/schedule that maintains required operational, projects, closure and post-closure infrastructure.
  • Develop contingency decommissioning and care and maintenance plans in the event of earlier than planned closure.
  • Liaise between the Study team and site to integrate execution plans within Operational Life of Mine planning and create area specific closure schedules including operations to closure asset strategy plans.
  • Develop and implement a balanced strategy for reducing site materials through annual winter road backhauls, salvage, sale or landfilling.
  • Coordinate knowledge and information management planning from Operations into Legacy/Long-term retention.
  • Critically review all information necessary to support FS level cost estimates – direct and indirect.

What you’ll bring

  • At least 10 years of experience in the construction, operation and maintenance or demolition of infrastructure at industrial or mining operations.
  • Technical understanding of function, maintenance and re-routing of electricity, heat, water, and sewer systems;
  • Remote mine site experience is an asset;
  • Talented in technical writing and editing;
  • Demonstrated excellent communications and inter-personal skills

Northern residency and experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North, are assets.
