Description

PCR Construction is seeking Red Seal Carpenters and Carpenter Apprentices to join our team in Whitehorse, YT.

We offer an exciting opportunity to develop and grow within our Yukon business. These positions will utilize your experience and technical skills as we embark on the construction of a new 54-unit condominium building in downtown Whitehorse.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborates with management and vendors in the delivery of quality product and customer service
  2. Project planning components including material takeoffs, equipment and staff allocation
  3. Assisting with the training of new crew members, monitoring job progress and scope, participating in and leading the company health and safety program
  4. Building foundations, installing floor beams, laying sub-flooring and installing walls and roofing systems
  5. Fitting and installing trim, doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
  6. Measuring, cutting and joining materials made of wood or wood substitutes
  7. Repairing and renovating wooden structures
  8. Framing carpentry experience is an asset.
  9. Preparing cost estimates for clients
  10. Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings and sketches
  11. Backing & blocking, formwork and parapet framing
  12. Building panels, footings, retaining walls and stairs
  13. Planning timelines and meeting deadlines
  14. Collaborates with management and vendors in the delivery of quality product and customer service
  15. Ensuring all work meets safety codes and applicable permits, inspections and reports are in place
  16. Other related duties.

Qualifications

  • Registered Carpentry Apprentice or Red Seal Carpentry certification
  • Commercial, industrial, and residential experience
  • Experience with framing, formwork and finishing
  • Strong knowledge of general construction duties - pump set up, use of tools, PPE, weather protection, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to work-related demands
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
  • Available for work in Whitehorse, Yukon (please note these are not a rotational, fly-in/fly-out positions. The incumbent is expected to relocate if out of territory.)
