The mandate of the Department of Environment and Climate Change is to manage land, water, air, wildlife, and forests. This includes promoting, planning, and supporting the wise and sustainable use of natural resources, and protecting, restoring, and stewarding the environment for the social and economic benefit of all Northwest Territories residents.
Job Information
Are you passionate about protecting the environment and communities from the devastating effects of wildfires? If so, we have two Wildfire Crew Member available positions located in Fort Resolution, NT. You would provide wildfire response and general duties in an overall effort to promote the sustainability of the region’s forests.
You would also be responsible for the following but not limited too:
- Testing and maintaining forest management equipment
- Minor building and ground's maintenance
- Work with Air Tankers, helicopters and heavy equipment
- Supervise extra Fire Fighters and lesser experienced Fire Fighters
- Participate in training programs
- Complete smoke patrols and fire assessments
The qualifications for a Wildfire Crew Member would be attained by:
Recent Certification through S-131 Forest Fire Fighting Training and past experience in firefighting.
Passing an annual Firefighter Work Capacity Testing standard
