Camp Manager - 1 Position
Responsible for day to day operations of Camp Connections
Dates -
- Training: June 6 - June 24 (Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm)
- Camp Session: June 27 - August 16 (7 days on, 4 days off)
Under the direction and supervision of the Camp Director, the Camp Manager will assist in planning, organizing, and implementing 5 week long dynamic sessions of summer camp. The Camp Manager will always work cooperatively; and effectively with all FFC-NWT staff and volunteers. The Camp Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of all Camp Staff and maintains a working relationship with the Elders and guests.
Compensation: $975.00/week
Responsibilities
Duties of the Camp Manager include but are not limited to:
Pre Camp - Under the direct supervision of the Camp Director:
- Has input to age appropriate camp programming for all sessions
- Assist Camp Director in facilitating staff training (2 weeks prior to camp)
During Camp -
- Responsible for running camp sessions as planned, using resources efficiently and effectively
- Accountable for the conduct of campers and Camp Leaders, which may include effective discipline measures.
- Ensure all medical needs of children are met. This includes keeping medicine in a locked box and giving out medications at the right time.
Post Camp -
- Participate in camp take down, includes loading all camp materials and transporting back to town for storage
- Assist in writing final staff evaluations
Qualifications
Qualifications -
- University Degree or Equivalent
- 2-5 years experience in a camp atmosphere
- 2-5 years experience developing and implementing programs for children or youth (ideally in a camp atmosphere)
- 1-3 years in a supervisory position (ideally in a camp atmosphere)
- Valid driver's license required
- Clear criminal record
- Experience working with children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, and other physical and behavioural abilities
- Good verbal communication skills, especially in conflict resolution, human resource management (mediation and related training an asset)
- Ability to coordinate staff, and maintain a safe camp atmosphere under various pressures
- Knowledge and respect for northern cultures
- Ability to multitask and manage time
- Experience in child welfare an asset
- Up to date first aid and CPR certification
- Lifeguard service certification an asset
- Class 4 Drivers License or willingness to attain Class 4 license
