Implement case plans and monitor progress. Provides advocacy services. Ensures clients understand and adhere to program rules and responsibilities, assists Primary Caseworker in completing assessments regarding client's life skills, safety and physical/emotional risk. Also implements emergency behavioral interventions and identifies and documents potential problematic or maladaptive behaviours.
- Maintaining accurate client records.
- Relays pertinent information related to client concerns, staff performance issues, operational issues, community issues, etc. promptly to appropriate personnel.
- Maintains healthy working relationships with other NWT Resource Centre staff, allied professionals and other referral parties.
- Follows formal lines of communication as identified by WMS organizational structure.
- Provides assistance to other units within the NWT Resource Centre as required where skills permit and where operationally feasible.
Safety & Security:
- Assuring the security of the facility through locking appropriate doors and monitoring clients coming and going. This includes monitoring security cameras for the third and fourth floor
- Understands and is able to implement emergency procedures related to the facility and/or the clients i.e. CPR, fire evacuations, etc.
- Identifies and reports any unsafe conditions promptly to The Salvation Army NWT Resource Centre Occupational Health & Safety Committee

· A Degree or diploma in Social Sciences or equivalent
· Addictions Certificate/ 2-year experience of group facilitation and counselling
· Valid Suicide Intervention Certification
· Valid First Aid Certificate
· Valid Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
· Minimum one year experience in the social services field or equivalent
· Case management and counselling skills
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.
· Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
· Ability to work effectively with clients and staff in a culturally diverse environment.
· Able to interview, communicate effectively and interact with individuals experiencing effects of intoxication.
· Proven ability to problem-solve and resolve crises and conflict
· Proven relationship building with contracting agencies and community resources
· Able to communicate effectively verbally and through the written word especially in terms of case notes and incident reports.
